Safe Environment Training & Background Checks

On behalf of all of us at Holy Cross, thank you for your ministry to the people of our parish!

To volunteer in a ministry that interacts with minors or vulnerable adults, you must complete a background check and our online safe environment training.

Part 1: Background Check

Background checks generally take 1-3 business days to process (international checks take longer; if you have lived internationally in the past 7 years, please let us know). This background check is a criminal background check only and not a credit check. The results are always kept confidential.

Background checks must be renewed every 5 years, and are paid for by the parish.

Option 1: online.

Email us at formation@holycrossalaska.net to receive a secure link. The email will come from a company called "Pinnacle Investigations," and the link expires after 7 days, so please complete this portion promptly.

Option 2: Office.

If you are unable to complete the form online at home, come to the office and we will help you. Make sure you know / bring your email login information.

Part 2: Safe Environment Training

Complete the training online here. Create a new account. If you’re a returning user (2022 and later), log back in… if you don't remember your username or password, you can reset it on the login page.

You've completed your training when you see a certificate on the screen.

Troubleshooting help is available here, or contact us at 349-8388 for one-on-one support. The most recent copy of the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Policy is available here.

Safe Environment Training must be renewed every 2 years.

Reporting

IN AN EMERGENCY, CALL 911.

In the event that you suspect or have been told that a child or vulnerable adult has been abused, or you are aware of the viewing or possessing child pornography, it is important that you contact your local law enforcement agency immediately. Bringing the matter to light is a step toward healing.

If the abuse has been perpetrated by clergy or other church personnel, contact the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Director, Jenny Michaelson, at 907-297-7736.
